In 2020 the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme (SCIP) had planned to provide a series of professional seminars in our main regional centres. The aim of these seminars was to keep people up to date with developments in the programme, and to find out more about cochlear implants and what they can do for your patients.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, these regional seminars have been repurposed to a webinar format. SCIP has available three webinars;
- A paediatric services webinar
- An adult services webinar
- A webinar designed for RTD / Education providers
There is some overlap in content, so attendance at all three webinars is unnecessary. Topics for discussion include:
- Discussing cochlear implants with your patient
- Who to refer – Referral criteria and process; publicly and privately funded assessments*
- Cochlear Implant assessment process
- Outcomes with a CI – variables that do, and do not, affect CI outcomes
- Updates on cochlear implant technology
- Managing the non-implanted ear; accessory and connectivity compatibility
- Roger and Cochlear Implants
- Regional support for patients
- Privately funded CI services
- Troubleshooting tips and tricks
