Some of us are happy to be ‘ears off’ and just enjoy a quick dip without our cochlear implants but if you like or need to hear what’s going on around you while you take a swim, all of our manufacturers have different waterproofing options available depending on what type of processor you have.
Here are some of the choices available:
• Cochlear have the Aqua Accessory and the Aqua plus
• MED-EL have Waterwear for Opus, Sonnet and Rondo processors
• Advanced Bionics have the Aqua case which looks and works a little differently but achieves the same result
• Oticon Medical have the swim kit available
All of these options are suitable for salt, chlorinated and freshwater swimming. Please note you need to use rechargeable batteries with all these swimming options as zinc air batteries will run out of air and stop working!
