Did you know that there are a couple of hacks to help you wear your face mask more easily?

When you wear hearing aids or cochlear implant speech processors, things can get in quite a tangle when trying to put on a mask. This can result in damage to your precious hearing instruments and not to mention be quite frustrating. Today, we’ll show you a couple of methods to help you wear your mask more easily.

1. Use a paper clip

Take a paper clip and thread one end through each ear loop in your mask.

Now turn the mask around. It should fit around your neck comfortably not too loose or tight.

When you need to put your mask on you can just slip it up over your nose with the earloops sitting at the back of your neck instead of on your ears. This way your mask can be quickly and easily slipped up when you need it and pull down when you don’t.

2. Use a button

If you’re handy with the needle and thread you can sew two buttons onto a piece of fabric like this and attach the earloops of your mask to each button. This way on the same premise as the paper clips but may be a bit more comfortable for long periods of time.

You can also purchase masks with loops to go over the head which take your ears out of the picture altogether. These can be a lifesaver. And at SCIP, we also have adjustable phonic mask extenders. If you’d like to find out more about these contact the clinic.
