Rehabilitationist – Queens Drive

We are looking for a Rehabilitationist! We’re ideally seeking someone with a qualification in speech or hearing therapy. A person with teaching, mentoring, or other education qualification and experience may be considered.

For applicants who may have hearing loss, particularly those using a cochlear implant, and who lack the requisite academic qualifications, training can be provided. Applicants without a suitable qualification in speech or hearing therapy but with other strong qualities will be required to under-take the NZ Diploma in Hearing Therapy – Level 6. This is a 2-year course involving part-time study and some domestic travel.

The position requires auditory training of cochlear implant recipients and so a good level of audition and spoken language competency is a must. Previous work in a public service or NGO setting would be an advantage, including those having worked in either a health or education environment.

The position is based out of our Lower Hutt clinic but we provide visiting services to patients in the lower North Island from New Plymouth on the west coast to Gisborne on the east coast. You would be expected to under-take over-night travel to support these services 3-4 times per year. Travel to our Christchurch clinic for in-service training will be required from time-to-time.
