In celebration of NZ Wills week, we're sharing Anne's story who decided to leave a gift in her will to SCIP after receiving her cochlear implant and experiencing the life-changing benefits first-hand. Anne’s life is full of volunteering for her church and playing her beloved music for several aged care facilities in and around Geraldine. “The cochlear implant has given me back my life,” she says.Anne said that she has been offered such a generous gift that she wants to give back, so someone else can benefit from a cochlear implant.Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the many ways you can provide support to SCIP and help change someone's life. Not long after receiving her implant in 2021, Valerie visited her family in Wellington, which is when she realised she could hear everything at the dinner table. This was a huge contrast to past occasions when Valerie described being Deafblind at times leading to a deep sense of loneliness in a crowded room.“I consider myself very fortunate," she says.
